North Lake Tahoe is a back country ski and snowshoe wonderland with miles of seemingly endless trails and tree runs to ski and hike. Lake Tahoe’s variety of back country is guaranteed to thrill most any level skier. It does not matter if you ski the steep and deep or prefer to x-country ski the flats, Lake Tahoe has it all. When snow conditions are best you can even cross country ski right from our shop on the beach. From there you can climb up into the North Tahoe Regional Park and beyond for an amazing full day of cross country skiing. Or you can pack up your skis and head off to the high country by car or bus where you can access the Tahoe National Forest trails and roads for tracked or untracked skiing/snowshoeing. You can find spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River from the ridge a couple miles above Kings Beach. There are many backcountry trailheads within a ten/twenty minute drive of our shop. You will be glad to know that all North Tahoe National Forest trails are free for you to access!

Guided Snowshoe or Cross Country Skiing Tours are Arranged in Advance

Guided tours are limited to groups of not less than four people and not more than twenty-five people. We structure each tour to your group’s particular needs and ability level. We recommend a two hour guided tour for beginners and at least a three to four hour tour for intermediate/advanced skiers. All participants must be in fairly good physical condition and should be capable of running a mile (at sea level). Everyone is on traditional x-country skis and snow shoes so we are going for easy/intermediate terrain and distances, most of the time. All tours include beautiful views of Lake Tahoe, skis, boots, poles and a basic x-country ski/snowshoeing lesson on easy terrain. Tours also include wildlife viewing and or tracking, tasty high energy snacks, drinks and or a delicious lunch. We also like to include some hands on primitive survival skills demonstrations, like how to build a snow cave or how to build a fire in the snow, without matches! Our tours are guaranteed to be informative, fun and exciting!

Snowshoe and Cross Country Skiing Guided Tour Rates

Ski and snowshoe tours run daily with reservations, December 1st to March 15th weather permitting. Our back country tours include Fisher and Atomic traditional cross country (sns) skis, boots, poles and Tubbs snowshoes of all sizes. Tahoe Eco Sports carries maps, sunglasses, goggles, gators, ski pants, gloves, hats, sunscreen etc. if you should need to get better prepared for your next adventure. Receive accurate and current trail info from our knowledgeable staff on a daily basis. We sell our winter rental gear starting at the end of February so come in and check out our new/used gear that is for sale.

Call to make a reservation 10am to 5pm daily. All reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of a guided tour and all tours must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance of tour in order to receive a refund.
